State College Regional Airport and Centre County Airport Authority Announce Plans for Passenger Boarding Bridges

State College Regional Airport, and the Centre County Airport Authority, jointly announced  plans  to design and to construct two Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBB) to enhance the travel experience for commercial airline passengers.

Bryan Rodgers, Airport Director confirmed that the design phase for the airport’s first ever PBBs is now underway. The construction phase is expected to be funded through a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Terminal Program, for which an application will be submitted in summer 2025. If awarded, construction of the PBBs is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2026.

“Fully enclosed Passenger Boarding Bridges will afford protection from the elements and enhance safety for all our guests traveling through our airport, said Jim Meyer, Executive Director for the Airport Authority.”

A decision on the FAA funding application is expected by fall 2025. If approved the installation of PBBs will significantly enhance the passenger experience at State College Regional Airport by providing safe, weather-protected boarding and deplaning access to aircraft.
